Sutcliff Swap: A Fanwork Exchange

Signups for this year's Swap begin on April 6th. This means you have three weeks to Read More Sutcliff before things get started!

Squee about your favorite Sutcliff book in the comments here! This is your chance to remind others of that book they'd almost forgotten they'd loved, and inspire them to request or offer fanfiction or fanart for it. And if a book you haven't read sounds good to you, you can read it before sign-ups, and maybe you'll be inspired to request or offer for it.

We're doing this on Dreamwidth only to consolidate discussion. Feel free to start a thread about your favorite book or three; please put the name of the book in the subject line. If you don't have a Dreamwidth login, you can use OpenID or comment anonymously. Please join in, tell us about your favorite Sutcliff books, and start thinking about what you might want to request and offer for the Sutcliff Swap!

Apologies for my tardiness in posting this and getting the rules updated. I am a fail!mod. Working on it now, promotional banners soon.

1. Schedule and Pinch-Hitting

The schedule for Sutcliff Swap 2013 has been determined as follows:

Signups: April 8-14
Matching and assignments go out: April 22 (or earlier)
Creation period: April 22-June 3
Default deadline: May 20
Fanwork deadline: June 3
Pinch hit deadline: June 9
Archive opens: June 10

There will be no creator reveal, since per the result of the community polls we have decided to open the collection with names attached. This also means artists will be responsible for their own image hosting.

After May 26, [personal profile] isis will be unable to answer emails, so all mod questions after that point should be addressed to [personal profile] carmarthen (caerfyrddin AT gmail DOT com), who will also be handling pinch hit coordination this year.

Based on the results of our poll a few weeks ago, we've decided that Swap sign-ups will begin April 8th. This means there is plenty of time to Read More Sutcliff before things get started!

We're going to post the Sutcliff Swap rules and schedule, and open for sign-ups, Real Soon Now! But while you're waiting, why not squee about your favorite Sutcliff book in the comments here? This is your chance to remind others of that book they'd almost forgotten they'd loved, and inspire them to request or offer fanfiction or fanart for it. And if a book you haven't read sounds good to you, you can read it this summer and enjoy the fanworks created for it - and maybe you'll want to request it for Yuletide or Yuletart, or for next year's Sutcliff Swap. (Because this is going to be so much fun we will want to do it again!)

We're doing this on Dreamwidth only, so that we can use comment subject lines to identify the books we're talking about. If you don't have a Dreamwidth login, you can use OpenID or comment anonymously. ETA: anonymous commenting is now enabled! OpenID works too, which will email you comment replies. Please join in and promote your favorite Sutcliff books (this post has a list of all the books), and start thinking about what you might want to request and offer for the Sutcliff Swap!

This list is copied from Wikipedia, so there's some redundancy in organization (Sword at Sunset is a Dolphin Ring book, an Arthurian book, and an adult book, for example), but I removed the omnibus editions. We expect some of these are very very unlikely to be requested or offered, but hopefully this is a useful memory jog.

You may also find [livejournal.com profile] hedgebird's Sutcliff's historical fiction by setting, length, and mode useful.
