A treat is any story or piece of artwork not created for your assignment. You can create extra things for your recipient or treats for people who are not your recipient. People who have not officially signed up as participants are also welcome to make treats if they find prompts inspiring. There is not an obligation to create treats; it's only if you want to.

Unlike official assignments, there is no minimum requirements for treats: ficlets under 1000 words and quick sketches are both fine!

To post a treat, simply post your story or artwork to the 2020 collection as you would for an assignment, and fill in the pseudonym of the person the treat is for. It's nice if you indicate in tags or notes that it's a treat.

You can view participants' requests here or possibly here too. (I'm not sure what's visible if you are not a mod--let me know if neither of those links work).

A reminder that the default deadline is coming up on May 12!

When you are ready, you can post your work to the 2018 collection.

Here's the info on treats, if anyone is so inclined:

Also, a question for the room--does anyone have any experience running exchange fests through AO3? I'm considering doing the next swap signups, etc. on AO3 but I'm worried that the tag wrangling would be a nightmare. I'm unclear on whether or not you have to have all the tags set up before people can sign up--and given the plethora of Sutcliff characters and works that sounds a bit daunting if so. I don't really want to do nominations in order to create a tag set beforehand either.

How To Post

When you are ready, you can post your work to the 2016 Collection on AO3. Use the "Post to Collection" button, being sure to fill in your assigned recipient. As with previous years, works will not be anonymous once the collection opens; creators will be revealed immediately. If you have not posted to AO3 before and have trouble, send me a PM or an email at riventhorn AT gmail DOT com.

Hello again, lovely participants! I just sent out an emergency pinch hit, and I'm a little concerned about being able to open the archive on time. I do not want to open the archive until everyone has a gift.

It would be extremely lovely if anyone felt inspired to produce even a quick treat for either of the recipients who don't currently have stories or art in the archive. Remember, treats can be less than 1000 words, or quick sketches.

Jain: Frontier Wolf, Sword at Sunset, The Truce of the Games )

riventhorn: Outcast, Frontier Wolf, Eagle of the Ninth )

If you are willing to take either of these as a formal pinch hit, please email me at caerfyrddin AT gmail DOT com.

Greetings, lovely participants! The deadline for your Sutcliff Swap 2013 assignment has now passed. We had one last minute default, so I have contacted some people who indicated that they might be willing to pinch-hit. Fingers crossed--so far everything has gone pretty smoothly!

The archive is currently scheduled to open June 10. This means you have until sometime June 9 to make sure your story has a title and summary (I noticed I'm not the only one who hasn't filled those in yet), and to get a last minute beta or SPAG-check if you feel you need one. And of course, you have until June 9 to write or draw additional treats if you feel inspired by any of the requests.

1. The fanwork deadline for Sutcliff Swap 2013 is June 3. Functionally, that means I don't start panicking until I wake up on June 4. If you have been assigned a pinch hit before the default deadline, your deadline is also June 3.

If you have to default, please notify me as soon as you know at caerfyrddin AT gmail DOT com, so I can find a pinch hitter. Life happens, it's okay, but more notice gives the pinch hitters more time to work.

2. I've finally put together a spreadsheet of all prompts for treat purposes. A few people have asked how treats work, and it's pretty simple.
